Eric Ehrnschwender’s work is suspended between the blunt logic of the mechanical and the slippery radiation of the interpersonal.

See: quantum superposition. Rather than being limited to distinct opposed positions, the possibility for conundrum is limited only by the number of nodes within the system.

Starting in a place of introspection and observation, coping mechanisms are mined to establish units of meaning via drawing and diagrams. These units are translated into volumes, and recombined spatially in response to existing architecture. These associative lattices of affective meaning collapse into a configuration upon viewing; the web is forced into specific sense when engaged with one’s particular experience.

A pillar is pen, a wheel is a dinner plate, a leg is a branch, a hand is a magnet. The drum of a washing machine is a cannon is a fire pit is a strainer is an exclusion of those largest things is a commitment to the small; a window is a record of direction is a prediction of the future is the admission of its existence; a bowl is a cantaloupe is unnamed desire is heartbreaking regret.

The field is guided; the feeling gleaned is not.
